Grandparents expect her at every evening pooja, and half-yearlies start the same week

pebble_quilt_6246

My parents do a full Ganesh setup at home every year, a few days of pooja with family coming in the evenings. My daughter is 15 and has always loved it. This year her half-yearly exams start the same week. My mother has already said she expects her there every evening. My daughter wants to go but is also panicking about chemistry. I'm the one in the middle. Do I tell my mother she'll come only on the first and last evening, or let my daughter decide and deal with whatever she picks?

Being far from family means we don't have this problem, for better or worse 🤷 My daughter goes to the evening aarti at our society pandal, 20 mins, and comes back. Exams or not. That small thing seems to keep her happy.

Ask your daughter which evenings matter to her and let her tell her grandmother herself. If you decide for her, you're the bad guy with both of them.

What is the actual clash? How many evenings, what time, and how far is your parents' place? Two hours on a non-exam evening is very different from three hours every night before a paper.
