school started weekly show and tell for grade 1. she picks the thing herself, practises at home, talks nonstop about it in the car. then at school she stands up and says nothing. teacher says she just holds it and looks at the floor she's not shy at home at all. is this something they grow out of or do I need to work on it at home 🤷
My daughter was the same until about class 3. What helped a little was practising with one person outside the family, her aunt on a video call, not just us. Talking to people who already love you is very different from talking to a room.
my son did this exact thing in grade 1 and now at 12 he does debates. no idea what changed it just happened by class 4. my younger one is 5 and the opposite, took a stone to show and tell at preschool and talked for ten minutes about it
Our son was similar, though for us it turned in class 2. His teacher let him present to her and two friends first, then to the whole class. That small step might be worth asking her teacher about.
