From an IB kindergarten to CBSE class 1 at Sri Gayatri e-Techno in Puppalaguda. How heavy is the homework?

ochre_puzzle_6492

My daughter is in an IB kindergarten programme right now. We are widening the search for class 1 next year because my partner may be working on the western side of the city, and Sri Gayatri e-Techno School in Puppalaguda came up. The thing I really want to understand is the jump. At her current school there is almost no written homework, it's all projects and reading. How much writing does class 1 expect at a CBSE school like this one? Did your child find the change hard?

"How much homework" depends on the class teacher more than the school. At the visit, request a look at a real notebook from this year's class 1.

+1 on the notebook. also look at the school diary, that's where the real homework gets written

I do not have experience with this school. One process question you may want to add: whether they do an assessment for class 1 entry for children coming from a different board. Some schools do a short reading and writing check, and it is better to know before the day.

As a maths teacher I have seen a fair number of IB to CBSE moves. At class 1 the gap is mostly the amount of written practice, not the concepts. Children who read well usually catch up with the writing within a term.

Did the brochure say what the e-Techno part means for class 1? I would ask whether it changes the timetable or the homework.

Good question. We asked the same at another school with a tech word in its name and it turned out to mean smart boards in the classrooms. Still worth asking here ♥
