Flat spot on the back of our 3 month old's head

maple_diary_4020

At the last vaccination visit our paediatrician pointed out that the back of our daughter's head is a little flat on the right side. She sleeps with her face turned right almost every time, towards the window. The doctor said it is common, gave us tummy time and position changes to work on, and asked us to show her again at the next visit. My partner is calm about it. I keep looking at the back of her head. For those who had this, did it round out with tummy time and turning alone? How long before you noticed a difference?

Our elder one had exactly this, right side also 🙂 We moved the cot so the window was on the other side and she started turning that way on her own. By the time her hair came in properly nobody could tell. She's 15 now with a perfectly round head and very strong opinions. Her ammamma's tip was to talk to her from the flat side, and that helped too.

Very common. My son had it, my granddaughter also. Keep shifting her head to the other side once she is asleep and carry her upright more when she is awake. Took about two months for ours. Don't worry too much, the doctor is watching it.
