Elder son is in CBSE, and the nursery closest to home is Krishnaveni Talent School, State Board

ochre_compass_5134

We're in LB Nagar. Our elder boy is at a CBSE school across town and the younger one, 3, is ready for nursery. Krishnaveni Talent School is close by and runs State Board from nursery to 10. For a 3 year old, close counts for a lot. But it would mean two boards in one house, two calendars, two sets of PTMs, and possibly a switch for the little one later. I teach maths myself, so the syllabus part worries me less than the logistics. Anyone run two boards for siblings? Was it a pain, or fine?

For nursery and the first couple of classes, board is a smaller factor than the day itself: how long it is, how far, how tired he comes home. It starts to matter around class 5 or 6. So the real question is whether you'd be comfortable moving him then, if it came to that.

Close by at 3 is worth a lot. You can always shift him at class 1 or 3. The hours lost in traffic you don't get back.

question from someone two years behind you: do state board nurseries start writing earlier than cbse ones? genuinely don't know

Both of mine are state board, English medium, teenagers now. Back in nursery they did letters and numbers early, more writing than my friends' kids in the play-type schools. But that's school to school, not board to board 🙂

Also, with a maths teacher at home he won't fall behind in anything. Most families switching boards don't have that.

We looked at this for our younger one and didn't go ahead, mainly because of the calendar. Different holidays meant someone was always home while the other had school, and exam weeks never lined up. Not a dealbreaker, just more juggling than we'd guessed 😄

lb nagar here too. close by means what, walking or a 15 min auto? if it's on the other side of the junction at 8.30 it's not close
