She finished class 12 in March and college starts in August. She's bored and has asked to come with me to the warehouse every day and do stock entries, the lot. I like the idea. My partner thinks she's earned a proper break before college. What did your children do with this gap?
I spent the summer after 12th answering phones in my father's office, and it's still the job I learnt the most from. If she's the one asking, I'd say yes. Ours is a baby, so I only have my side of this one.
You both have a point. A few weeks of real work at 17 is good for her, and starting college already tired isn't. Could she do mornings only, or three days a week, and keep the last two weeks before college completely free? That way it stays her choice rather than becoming a job.
