Daughter wants a nine-day road trip to Spiti with three friends before she starts work

Final semester is over and she is home, sleeping late and planning. The plan is a hired car and driver from Chandigarh, homestays booked through a friend's cousin, nine days, four girls, all 21 or 22. I'm not against it. I went to places at her age that my parents didn't hear about until later. What I'd like is to understand what a sensible check-in looks like for something like this without becoming the mother on the group call every night. My partner, who is home on a career break and has time to worry, would prefer daily location sharing. Our daughter says that's 'surveillance'. What did you agree on when yours did a trip like this?

mine are 12 and 4 so i'm answering as the daughter i used to be. my parents asked for one message a day, any time, any length, and the hotel names in advance. that was it. i sent the message every day because nobody was tracking me. live location would have made me turn it off on day 2

One message a day plus the homestay list sounds right to me. I'll put it to her as her proposal, not ours. Thank you, this helped me stop drafting rules at one in the morning.
