Class 2 stationery list says 'one art kit (good quality)'. Good quality according to whom?

List came home before the holidays. Most of it is specific: number of notebooks, ruled or unruled, sizes. Then: one art kit, good quality. Crayons, pastels, paints? Which brand? The shop near us has kits from 150 to 1,500 and the shopkeeper says "all are good quality, sir". I'm not buying the most expensive one to be safe. What did your child's teacher actually expect?

Buy the cheapest one that has everything listed and works. Nobody checks the brand. Our son's 'good quality' crayons were snapped in half by August either way, and the teacher never once asked.

Don't buy it yet. Nothing art-related gets used in the first week. Ask the class teacher on day one what she means and buy after.

Our son's list had that exact line. My partner bought the fancy one already, 48 colours, wooden box. He uses four colours, all of them for trains 😊 So I'd say the cheaper kit is fine.
