Class 2 homework shows up on the app at 9 pm, when she's already asleep

Most evenings the teacher posts the next day's homework between 8.30 and 9.30. My 7 year old sleeps at 8.30, the baby goes down around then too, and on my on-call weeks I may not see the message till morning. So it gets done at 6.45 am over breakfast, rushed, or it doesn't get done and I write a note. My partner is at home this year and has started staying up just to check the app, which seems a bit much for class 2. Is this normal now? How do other families manage it?

Teachers are often posting after their own children are in bed. Some apps let them schedule posts. Worth asking, politely, whether it could go out by 5.

Had exactly this in class 3. Clinic till 8, so I'd see it at 10. We did it at breakfast and the teacher never once minded. In class 2 it's a worksheet, not a crisis 🙂

I coordinate at a school, for what it's worth. We have a rule that nothing goes out after 6, because parents raised exactly this. It wasn't one parent, it came up at a PTM from several of them together. Teachers do want to get it right, they're usually working late too.

Several of us together sounds better than me writing in alone. There's a PTM next month, I'll bring it up there.

      Replying to @violet_lantern_5141

Speak to two or three other parents before the PTM so you're not the only hand going up. Teachers hear it differently when it's a group.
