Class 10 calendar has no Dasara break, just a 'revision camp'

cinnamon_puzzle_7237

Son's class 10 year calendar came yesterday. Every other class gets the Dasara holidays. Class 10 has 'revision camp, attendance compulsory' for the whole break, plus Saturday tests from August. The school says 'board year, priorities'. I don't see how a 15 year old studies better with no real break between June and March. Is this common in class 10 now? Did anyone push back and get somewhere, or is it a lost cause?

Happened in my daughter's class 10 last year too. We sent her for the morning sessions and kept the afternoons as holiday, with a note to the class teacher. Nobody made a fuss, and that break kept her sane before the pre-boards. Amma called the afternoons a waste of time till the results came 🙂

Did the school mind her skipping the afternoons? I'm asking ahead. Mine is in class 6 and the holidays already seem to shrink every year.

Worth asking whether 'compulsory' really means every day, or whether attendance is marked loosely. Some schools say compulsory and mean strongly advised. If it really is all day for the whole break, I'd ask the class teacher in writing what the plan is for those days. A written question is harder to brush off than a comment at the gate.

a whole holiday of revision is a long stretch for a fifteen year old boy. half days at least
