Caregiver gets our 4 month old to sleep in ten minutes. I take forty-five

Same baby, same room. She picks him up, does something, and he's gone. I come home and it's a 45 minute negotiation, and half the time he wakes when I put him down. I'm not asking how to sleep train. Just whether this is normal and if there's a trick I'm missing.

She does it many times a day, you do it a few times a week. My daughter was the same with our caregiver all those years ago. It evened out once I stopped looking at the clock. Be kind to yourself, he knows who you are ❤

Ask her to show you, as in stand there and watch. Ours had a specific hold, baby facing out, and a hum on one note that was just 'mmmm'. Felt silly copying it. Worked.

Did it today. Her hold is basically a forearm carry with a faster bounce than I'd ever dare. Twenty minutes. Progress.

Babies tend to settle faster with whoever is calmest. Not saying you aren't, but after a long day most of us are more wound up than we realise. My partner found that a shower and ten minutes before taking over made a real difference.

Why does it matter how long it takes? Is he sleeping in the end?

Arre, our caregiver had a lori she sang in Bhojpuri. I learnt half of it, badly. Beti still asks for 'didi wala gaana' sometimes and I have to hum the parts I don't know.
