admission form asks for 'mother tongue'. does what we write decide her second language?

younger one's class 1 form, due before june. we speak telugu and english at home, english more than we'd like to admit. i wrote telugu, then started wondering if the school uses that to put her in telugu as second language without asking. her older sister had hindi. probably overthinking it.

Did the form say what it's used for? Some schools only use it for records. Others use it to sort language sections. Ask the office which. Don't guess.

nothing written on it. called just now. they said second language is picked separately later, not from this box. so it's only a record for now

Still at the daycare stage here, so no forms yet. Keeping this in mind though. We speak mostly Telugu with her and I'd have wondered the same thing.

we wrote telugu for my son years ago and i don't think anyone looked at it again. what mattered more was which language he could read at 8, and it wasn't telugu. glad you got a straight answer.
