90s in everything except Telugu, which is 61. Push it in class 7 or let it be?

Class 6 results came today. Happy with all of it except Telugu. We speak Telugu at home but she has never liked reading or writing it, and the paper gets harder every year. Her ammamma wants a Telugu tuition this summer. I'm not sure a summer class will make her like it any better. What did you do?

61 in the second language next to 90s everywhere else is a very familiar report card. ours hovers around there too. not lovely, but nobody outside the family will ever ask about it

What helped my son was reading Telugu that wasn't the textbook. Comics, the cricket page in the Telugu paper, film song lyrics. He still writes slowly, but his marks went up once reading stopped feeling like homework.

In my hostel I see boys from Telugu medium who struggle with English and English medium boys who can't write two lines of Telugu. Both survive. One summer won't change much, but don't let her drop it completely. Later she will be glad she can read a notice, a newspaper, a document, without asking someone.

Bengali family, so in our house Telugu is nobody's language and our daughter still has to write it. She came home with a similar number last year. We stopped fighting about it and a college girl in our building sat with her twice a week for the grammar part. The marks crept up. The love didn't 🙂

Bilkul same story with Kannada for my daughter here in Bengaluru, and she's only in class 1. Nobody at home can help her, so we keep it low pressure for now. Good to hear the marks can at least creep up.
