3 months of swimming class and my 5 yr old still won't put her face in the water

loves the pool loves the coach loves kicking with the board. the minute it's face in, she's out and on the steps. coach says she's fine just needs time. we pay for a term at a time and i'm on call half the evenings so it's mostly my partner taking her. starting to wonder if we're just paying for splashing

same with ours till recently. what moved it was bath time at home with goggles on, blowing bubbles into the water, dunking toys. no pressure. took weeks though 🤷

Three months is not long at that age. What I would watch is how the coach handles the face-in part. If she is being pushed under or held down, that tends to set children back for a long time. If the coach is letting her come to it, the splashing term is not wasted. She is getting comfortable, and that is most of it.

My son took close to a year before he'd put his face in. We nearly stopped twice. He swims perfectly well now and doesn't remember being scared at all. I wouldn't count months at five.
