My son is 11 so no council elections yet, but he lost a class quiz final in September and gave us exactly the 'doesn't matter' line. I didn't bring it up. About a week later he started talking about it in the car on his own. Sometimes they need a few days.

Not IB here, my son is in class 6 CBSE, but the same 'which coaching' noise has already started in our area for kids his age. Half the building has put their children in foundation batches. What I notice is that people decide based on what the neighbours are doing, not on the child. Your daughter has already told you she doesn't want late coaching. That is useful information. I would not ignore it just to keep every door open.

Get her to do the exercise also and you count for her. My son started doing push-ups with me only because he wanted to catch me cheating on the count. Now he does more than me.

Bedsheet under the chair is the right call. Ours was a plastic tablecloth from the kirana shop. My son is in middle school now and that same tablecloth still comes out for his science projects.

Growing up, nobody paid us anything for looking after the younger ones. But I think kids now understand money better than we did. Paying her for real hours of minding him is fine. Just don't start paying for small things, otherwise everything in the house becomes a bill.

We had the same with our son, years back in Karimnagar. Got the name added at the municipal office before his school admission. Two visits and some patience with the clerk. The schools we applied to all asked for the certificate with the name, Aadhaar alone did not satisfy them.
