When my grandson was a baby we kept him in the inner bedroom on the main nights, windows shut, curtains drawn, and the fan running for a steady sound. His ajji, that is me, sat with him while his parents went out to light the diyas. He slept through more than we expected. The big ones right next to the building still woke him, and nothing could be done about those.

I do afternoon pickups for my grandson, so allow me the grandmother's view. One gate and one dispersal time makes the afternoon far simpler for whoever is doing the collecting. If you have help or family doing pickups, ask them what they think too. Also ask your daughter what she imagines the big school will be like. Sometimes it is the brother she wants, not the school.
