Daughter's laptop hinge cracked last week, the left one. The screen still works but it wobbles, and she has computer practicals in class 11 now. Two shops near us said the same thing: glue it, or the part isn't available, buy a new one. The laptop is four years old and otherwise fine. I want a real replacement hinge, even if it takes a week to order. Where have people had this done, and did it last?
try the computer market at ameerpet or ctc in secunderabad. the shops there order parts. had a hinge done at one, took 5 days, still fine a year later
Did they give any guarantee on the part, or just their word?
Never mind the guarantee question. A colleague says the same about Ameerpet. Going on Saturday with the laptop and low expectations.
Late reply. Check the warranty first, some brands cover hinges under extended warranty. If not, Ameerpet is the usual answer.
Also tell her class teacher it's out for repair. In class 11 they'll usually let her use a lab system for a few days, but someone has to ask.
