Weekend puzzle or maths club near Kokapet for a 7 year old who finishes classwork first

monsoon_guava_6634

Second week of class 2 and there's already a note in the diary: she finishes the worksheet in five minutes and then 'helps' the children next to her, loudly. She isn't being rude. She's bored, and I'd rather she had somewhere to put that energy than get known as the chatty one. Looking for something on weekends around Kokapet, Narsingi or the Financial District side. Not abacus speed drills. More like puzzles, logic games, building things, ideally a small group. My theatre lists start early, so Saturday or Sunday only.

Before signing up anywhere, ask what a normal session involves minute by minute. Several places that advertise 'logic' or 'thinking skills' turn out to be worksheet booklets with a different cover. My son did one for a term at about that age, and the only good part was the last fifteen minutes, when the instructor put one hard problem on the board and let them argue about it. If a centre lets you sit in on a session, that tells you more than any brochure.

As a maths teacher, I'd also work on the classroom side, not only weekends. Ask her teacher whether she can be given an extension sheet or one harder problem once she's done. Some teachers are happy to do that, others feel it's extra work in the first month with a new class. A weekend club will help her enjoy maths, but it won't fill the five idle minutes in class, and that's where the diary note came from.

board game cafe on sundays could work too. not a class, but my older one learnt more patience there than anywhere 😄 also keep a puzzle book in her bag for those five minutes. teachers usually don't mind if it's quiet

Our gated community clubhouse has a Sunday morning Rubik's cube and tangram group run by one of the residents. Mostly 6 to 10 year olds. Worth checking whether something similar runs in yours, these never get advertised anywhere.
