We don't have kids. How do we stay friends with couples who now have toddlers?

juniper_pebble_4378

Three couples we were close to have had babies in the last two years. Plans get cancelled, or it's an hour at their place between naps. Fair enough. But we're slowly falling out of the group, and I get the feeling they think we'd be bored. For parents here: what makes it easy to keep friends who don't have kids? What should we offer, and what should we stop doing?

The friends we kept from that phase were the ones who came over, sat on our floor and didn't mind the mess. One couple brought dinner every second Friday and ate with us at 7.30 while our daughter ran around. Nobody had to dress up or book a table. What didn't work: anything after 9, or anything we had to plan a week ahead. And keep inviting even if they say no three times. The fourth time we usually came.
