Two doctors at home, and neither of us knows our daughter's blood group

hazel_river_3974

The school's annual update form came today. Address, emergency contacts, allergies, blood group. We are both doctors. We looked at each other and realised nobody ever checked hers. If it's in her birth records, those are in a box somewhere. Is it normal to leave that field blank, or do schools insist on it? The form goes back when school reopens.

This made me laugh. Our son's form has said 'to be confirmed' under blood group for three years and nobody has asked. A surgeon and a lawyer in the house, so no excuse on our side either.

left it blank on ours too. when i asked, the school nurse said it goes into a register and that's about it

We filled it in for the elder one because she needed a test for something else anyway. For the younger one it's still blank. In an emergency I'd want the school to call me, not rely on a form, so I've never lost sleep over it.
