Three skating classes in, and the coach says rental skates are holding the girls back

Our 7 and 5 year olds started roller skating at a rink near Alwal this month. Three classes so far, both can stand and roll a little, both love it. Today the coach told us they'll 'plateau' on the rental skates and handed us a list of brands, with the inline pair he sells himself at the top. Three classes. I'm not against buying, but this seems early. Is there a real difference for beginners, or can we wait a couple of months and see if they're still keen?

We bought proper skates for my son when he was about seven, after two months of classes, because he begged. He used them for one more term. They're still in the loft. I don't know whether rental ones would have changed how long he stayed with it. Probably not.
