My daughter's new pinafore is loose at the waist and a few inches too long. The uniform shop sells standard sizes only and doesn't do alterations. I need it done before next Monday, ideally somewhere I can drop it after school and collect in two or three days. Most places I tried this morning were shut for the festival. Is there a small tailor in the area who is reliable with children's clothes?

Not near you, I'm in Nizampet. But ask your apartment's ironing person. Ours knows two tailors who do quick alterations, and he collects and drops the clothes himself. It has saved me so many trips, because my work timings don't match any shop's.
if it's just the hem and waist, safety pins and hem tape will get you through till the tailors reopen 🤷 we did a whole term like that once
