Sun's up before 6 and so is our toddler. Do blackout curtains help?

Since the end of March she's been waking at 5.15, 5.30, chatting away and ready for the day. Bedtime hasn't changed. Her room faces east and the light comes in all around the curtain. Worth buying blackout ones, or will it pass by itself? On office days I'm done by 11.

Blackout helped us when my son was small, long back now. But the bigger change was pushing bedtime half an hour later. Try one at a time, otherwise you won't know which worked.

Bedtime is already 8.30, so not much room there. Typing this at 4.20 with her wide awake on my lap. Curtains are getting ordered today.

Blackout lining helped me a great deal after night shifts, and helped my children when they were small. In my experience the gaps at the sides and top matter more than the fabric. We closed the edges with velcro strips stuck to the wall.

Delhi sunrise does the same to us. Our daughter's room also faces east. Moving the cot to the far wall, away from the window, bought us about half an hour. Not a fix, but it helped.

Some of it may pass on its own. Our son had a stretch of 5 am starts around that age and nothing we changed made a clear difference. It moved back after a couple of months. Curtains are still worth having, they help with afternoon naps in the summer.
