Son wants to move to Gowtham Concept School at ECIL for class 10 to be with his tuition friends

My son is in class 9, CBSE, at a school on our side of town. Half his tuition batch studies at Dr. K K Rs Gowtham Concept School near ECIL X Roads, and he has decided he wants to join them for class 10. My instinct is that moving in the board year is a bad idea, whatever the school. But he has made his case properly. The travel is manageable, he'd have friends in class, and he says the teachers there 'explain like the tuition sir does'. I'm not sure how much that last part counts, given he's hearing it from fifteen-year-olds. Has anyone moved a child in class 10, to this school or any other, and how did it go? And if you know families at Gowtham Concept, I'd like to hear what the day there is like before we say yes or no.

I teach maths, so I'll speak to the timing rather than the school, which I don't know. Class 9 is when teachers learn where a child slips: the topics he avoids, the kind of mistake he makes under time pressure. A new set of teachers starts that from zero in June and has only a few months before preboards. It can work. It needs a stronger reason than friends, though, and the friends will still be in his tuition batch either way.

One thing I'd ask him, gently: what would he miss about his current school? If the answer is 'nothing much', that tells you something. If it's a long list, that tells you something too.
