Son has become the morning homework supplier on his school bus

He is in class 6 and the bus ride is about forty minutes. A boy in his row started copying his maths homework on the way, now there are four of them, and my son has started finishing his homework earlier so it is 'ready' for the bus. He isn't getting anything for it that I know of. He seems pleased to be the one everyone needs. I am less pleased, but I can't tell whether this is something to stop, or something that will sort itself out once the first test results come. Would you step in, and how, without making him the boy who refuses his friends?

The part I'd worry about is the first test. When four kids do well on homework and badly on the test, teachers usually notice the matching notebooks before they work out who copied. Your son could get pulled in with them. Could he offer to explain one sum on the bus instead of handing the notebook over? Keeps him useful, which seems to be what he likes 🙂

I hadn't thought of that, that he could be the one in trouble. I suggested the explaining idea at dinner. He said there isn't time on the bus to explain, which may be true, and may also be the point.

It's a relief to read that it can just end. My son is the copier in his group, not the supplier, and I only found out from another mother 💛 Neither side is fun to be the parent of.

Interesting. Not something I can ask the school for, but I may tell his class teacher the homework is being shared, without naming anyone. Still thinking about it.
