somewhere near begumpet for an 8 year old to learn to ride without training wheels

she's ready, or says she is. trouble is our lane is narrow and there's always a car reversing out of somewhere, and the bigger roads are obviously out. looking for an open, flat, mostly empty space where i can run behind her for half an hour on a weekend morning without either of us getting shouted at. doesn't need to be close, we'd drive.

Which places have you already tried? Several of the big parks don't allow cycles at all, so it helps to know what's ruled out.

Not near you, sorry, we're in Nagole. But one thing that worked for my son: take the pedals off first and let her push along with her feet for a few sessions. She finds the balance before she has to think about pedalling. He was riding in two weekends ❤️

We used an empty school ground on Sunday mornings, the watchman let us in after my daughter's teacher put in a word. Might be worth asking her school if it has a ground. Much better than any park 🙂

Ours is far too young for this, but I learnt late myself, at about 12. The uncle who taught me held the back of the seat, never the handlebar, and let go without telling me. I was halfway down the road before I noticed. It may be worth trying once she has some confidence.

Basement parking in a big gated community on a Sunday morning, if you know anyone in one. My son learnt going in circles around the pillars. Not glamorous but nobody drives in before 9.
