Someone calling himself an admission consultant is offering a class 5 seat. Anyone used one?

We're thinking about a change of school for class 5. Out of nowhere I got a WhatsApp message from an unknown number offering 'assured admission' at a couple of well-known schools, for a fee. I haven't replied. I work in security, so my first instinct is scam. But a colleague says some parents do use consultants for forms and paperwork. Is that a real thing here, and has anyone here used one?

in bangalore these messages come every admission season. we got two last year. a friend paid one for 'form filling' and it was exactly that, forms. nobody can assure a seat. i'd ignore

Forms I can fill myself. 'Assured' was the word that set me off. Blocking the number.

You're right to be wary. Long before WhatsApp, when my son was small, people used to hang around school gates with the same promise. Every admission that worked out for us went through the school office and nothing else. If a school's process is unclear, call the office and ask; they're used to the question.
