society basketball coach says 5 is too young. son is heartbroken

gentle_spoon_6535

the coach in our apartment only takes kids from 7. my son has watched the older boys every evening for a month and now carries his ball down to the court and just stands at the side. anywhere around as rao nagar or ecil that takes a 5 yr old for basketball, or some ball sport that's close enough? or do i just tell him to wait two years

ours wanted to play cricket with the big boys this year and nobody coaches 4 yr olds. i set up a stump and a tennis ball in the parking and he bowls at it every evening. not the same, but it bought us time. no idea about the as rao nagar side, sorry

My daughter played basketball at school till last year. What she noticed at the school's summer camp: the 5-year-old batch mostly ran, threw and caught, very little real basketball. So a general ball-skills or multi-sport batch would give him most of the same thing for now. And the two years go faster than you think :)

kondapur side there are a few weekend multi sport batches for 4 to 6, no idea about yours. also let him keep standing at the court. the older boys usually end up passing to the small guy sooner or later
