Sibling priority for nursery at our daughter's school, but it's 40 minutes away

Our daughter's school gives younger siblings priority for nursery, and they've said we should register our son by August for next June. Easy admission, same holidays, one school to deal with. But the school is 40 minutes each way in the van. Our daughter is 11 and manages fine. Our son will be about three and a half. There are a couple of schools much closer, which we haven't properly looked at yet. Did anyone choose the closer school over the sibling seat? Any regrets?

Our two are in different schools. The younger one goes to a preschool five minutes from home, and our son is at a school further away. For us the morning decided it. A three year old in a 40 minute van makes for a very long day. One question though. Would he share the van with your daughter? That changes things.

Same van, yes. That's the only real argument for it, to be fair. She says she is 'not babysitting in the van' 🤷
