She's now the last drop on the school bus. Seventy-five minutes home in this heat

fern_drum_2888

The route changed in March. She gets on at 2.40 and reaches our gate at about 3.55. The bus has fans, no AC, and she comes in red-faced and too tired to eat. Two other children in our lane are on the same stretch. The transport office says routes are fixed for the year and will be 'reviewed in June'. I can pick her up some days, not most. Not sure whether to push now or just get through the last few weeks 🙂

Our son was the last drop for a whole year once. A frozen water bottle wrapped in a cloth and a small snack for the bus helped a bit. For June, if the three families write together instead of separately, the transport people tend to take it more seriously.

With only a few weeks left I'd get through it and put the energy into the June review. Ask them specifically to rotate the drop order. First on, last off is the usual pattern, and the kids at the end of the line are the ones who suffer.
