she's asked me to stop explaining physics. says i make it longer

my daughter's in class 10, state board. physics was always the subject we did together, since i'm an engineer and like it. this year she's asked me to stop. her reason is that i explain why something works and the exam wants the three lines from the textbook. she's not wrong about the exam. i just didn't expect it to sting this much. i'm not really asking what to do. more wondering if other parents had a subject they used to share with their kid and then got politely fired from it.

My boys are young enough to still want my explanations, so this is from the other side. My father did the same with chemistry, and I asked him to stop around class 10 for the same reason your daughter gives. I went back to him in my second year of college, when the three-line answers stopped being enough. It may be a pause rather than a firing.

that's kind. i'll try to keep the door open without standing in it.

i was that daughter. my amma taught maths and i shut her out completely in class 10. it didn't mean anything except that i needed one subject that was mine. we're fine now. she still explains things too long.
