she'd rather learn class 6 science from youtube. says the teacher is boring

older one has decided the textbook is boring and the science teacher 'just reads it out'. so every evening she watches a channel that explains the chapter with animations and then does the questions from that. her answers are fine. first test marks were fine my partner teaches and says don't fight it. i'm not against the videos, i'm against the 90 minutes of 'related' videos that come after. has anyone found a way to keep only the useful part

up at 3 with the little one so reading old threads. my older one did most of grade 9 physics off youtube. what worked for us: tv in the hall, not her phone in her room. autoplay off. and she had to tell me one thing she'd learnt before she could start the next video. she found it very annoying. it worked

tv in the hall is good, she'll hate it, which probably means it works. we're up early all week for a big order anyway so i'll try it tonight

the one-thing-first rule, stealing it. my 10 yo would give me the video title and call it a summary haha

We use the hall TV rule for our older one too. My partner's view, as a teacher, is that videos are fine for understanding, but the written answers still need the textbook's language because that's what gets marked. Worth checking her answers aren't drifting into the video's words.
