She sits still for my mother's plaits every morning and fights me for every strand

Every morning my mother oils and plaits our daughter's hair while she sits there like a little statue, humming. On the days my mother is busy and I try, it's a wrestling match. Crying, running round the dining table, one plait higher than the other by the end. I work from home most days and I'd like to do this with her sometimes. Is it my technique, or is it just me? Any tricks from people whose kids have one favourite hair person ❤
