Same school, one year apart, and a teacher keeps comparing my younger one to her akka

Two daughters, one year apart, same school since nursery. The elder one was the maths kid, prizes and all. The younger one is good at other things and average in maths. Her maths teacher has now started saying 'your akka never made this mistake' in front of the class. Younger one told us at dinner like it was a joke, and then didn't say much else all evening. Teachers and parents, have you dealt with this? Do I say something to the school, or will that only make it worse for her?

teacher here, primary. we do this without thinking. i've caught myself saying it about siblings and felt awful after. a short private word usually ends it, most teachers don't realise how it lands. ask her first though. some kids would rather disappear than have a parent go in

That's the catch. She has already said 'nanna, don't come to school for this'. So I'm a bit stuck 😊

Asked her again just now. She says it's only that one teacher and only when she gets something wrong. Somehow that feels worse. Maybe I'll raise it at the PTM in a general way, without saying she told me.
