Proper Hyderabadi breakfast for a 15 year old who thinks eating out means a café

linen_fern_8341

Sunday plan: get my son out of bed before 8 and show him that breakfast outside the house existed before cold coffee and croissants. He'll eat almost anything once it's in front of him. Getting him there is the hard part, so I want one place that's worth the drive from Hafeezpet. Irani chai and bun maska, a tiffin centre with a crisp dosa, paya if he's feeling brave. Old city is fine, we'll go early. Where would you go? (He has already asked if there's wifi.)

Start with the tiffin centre, not paya. First trip should be a sure win, otherwise he'll hold it against you for a year. Pesarattu with upma inside, allam chutney, filter coffee. Our two little ones think the small tiffin places near Kukatpally beat any café, so a 15 year old should come round 🙂

Pesarattu upma is a good call, he'll eat anything with ginger chutney. Noted on the sure win. I've lost whole arguments over less.

old city before 8 on a sunday. irani chai, osmania biscuits, then walk a bit. if he eats meat, paya and naan on the charminar side, but go with someone who knows the place the first time. i take my grandson for the chai and biscuits only. he's 9 and that's plenty for him

      Replying to @violet_violin_1570

Ours asked exactly that, and then had two helpings once nobody answered. I would not lead with the word 'trotters'. Bun maska on the first trip, paya on the second.
