Partner's team moves to Kokapet in July. Is May too late to look for a class 8 seat?

We're in Banjara Hills and my son starts class 8 in June at his current CBSE school. My partner's team is shifting to Kokapet from July, which would mean over an hour each way, so we've started talking about renting on that side. If we did move, would schools there still have class 8 seats this late, or is it basically next year now? Nothing decided. I just want to know if it's even an option before we start flat-hunting.

No school experience at that level, our boy is still a baby. But two people in my team moved to the Narsingi and Kokapet side last year and both found seats for middle classes in May and June. Not at the first school they wanted, though. The smaller schools seemed to have more room than the well-known names.

Before the school hunt, check whether he could stay at his current school for a few months after you move. Kokapet to Banjara Hills in the morning is against the traffic and not too bad. That would buy you time to apply properly for next year.

Thought about that. It's the evening return that worries me, he'd be on the road past 5 most days. But staying put at school till next June might be the realistic answer, even if we move.
