Painting booked for the whole flat next week, and I've just found out I'm pregnant

Found out last week. Nobody outside the two of us knows yet. The painters were booked months ago, six days, every room. My partner is an architect and says the newer paints are low-smell, but even the putty smell from the neighbour's work on Sunday made me queasy. Options: push the work back, take a service apartment nearby for the week, or stay with a friend and have to explain why. Did you stay away during painting, and for how long after it was done?
