Our nanny wants her son at Naagarjuna The Next Gen School in Karmanghat. What should she ask?

The lady who looks after our younger one in the afternoons lives on the Karmanghat side and is hoping to get her son into Naagarjuna The Next Gen School for class 4 next year. He's at a small school near her home now. She wants help with what to ask when she visits, since I've been through admissions with my elder daughter. Our schools have been nothing like this one, so I'm not much use beyond 'ask about fees and timings'. If you know the school or that side of the city, what would you want to find out before moving a child there in class 4?

The thing I'd want to know, moving a kid in class 4, is how they help joiners catch up. Do they test him first, give him a buddy, give the parent a list of what the class has already covered? Schools vary a lot on that, and it's usually the first term that decides whether a kid settles. I don't know this school though, Karmanghat is the other end of the city for us.

That's a good one. She was mostly worried about whether they'd take him mid-primary at all, but how they settle him in is the better question.

Tell her to go once at dismissal time, not just for the appointment. You see how the children come out, who is waiting, how the vans line up. Ten minutes at the gate tells you a lot.

We're in Nagole, so Karmanghat is close, but I don't know anyone at this school and can't speak for it. For a class 4 joiner I would add two practical questions: which second language he'd take and from which class the others started it, and how homework comes home, diary or app. If she doesn't use a smartphone much, the second matters more than people think.
