Our cook's daughter wants English medium from class 7. What should her mother ask at Presidency Girls High School?

sage_notebook_6145

The lady who cooks for us lives near Falaknuma. Her daughter finishes class 6 at a Telugu-medium government school this month and has set her heart on English medium from class 7. Presidency Girls High School is close to their home, so her mother asked me what she should find out when she goes. I've never been inside the school and I don't want to send her in with wrong expectations. What I have so far: whether they take girls at class 7 at all, which documents to carry, and whether a girl coming from Telugu medium gets any support with English in the first months. Anything else she should ask? She'll go in person. She isn't comfortable with phone enquiries.

One practical point on documents. She should ask whether the transfer certificate is needed before the seat is confirmed or only afterwards. I'm told a TC from a government school can take some days to be issued, so it is better to know the order of steps before she asks her current school for it.

I'd add one: is there a joining test, and what is in it? If there is, the girl can spend May getting ready for it instead of worrying about it.

the test question is a good one. a girl in our building moved from telugu medium around that age and they gave her a short english and maths paper. she was nervous for nothing, it was mostly to see where she stood. no idea what this school does though
