Our 9 year old wants dinner at 7.30 like her friends. We rarely sit down before 9

Client reviews often run late for me, and my partner likes us to eat together once I'm home, so dinner has always been around 9 for all three of us. She's started saying she's starving by 7, and that everyone in her class has eaten and is in bed by the time we start. The obvious answer is to feed her earlier and let her sit with us later, but she says that's 'eating alone'. Has anyone split dinner like this and kept it feeling like a family meal? Or did you move the whole household earlier?

We do 'first dinner' and 'second dinner' in our house, though ours is a toddler so the stakes are lower 😄 He eats properly at 7, and at 9 he sits with us and gets a small bowl of something, usually curd rice. He thinks second dinner is the best part of the day. Maybe she gets the main meal at 7.30 and fruit or dessert at the table with you?

Roughly what we did for years. Worked till about 12, then she wanted to eat whenever she was hungry and take the plate to her room. Enjoy the 'eating alone' complaint while it lasts.
