Our 15 year old has started calling me by my first name, and it's been three weeks

plum_puzzle_3010

It began after she watched a series where the kids call their dad by his name. Now it's every time, including in front of her grandmother, who is not amused. I don't mind much myself, it's said with affection. But I'm not sure whether to let it run its course or say something before it sticks. Did your teen go through a phase like this? ❤️

My DP students try first names on teachers every year. Ignoring it works faster than objecting.

My 10 yr old calls me 'bro' some days. I'd take a first name 🤷

Does it bother you, or does it bother the family? If it's mostly her grandmother, maybe the deal is 'not in front of Ammamma' or whatever you call her. My nephew tried calling his father by name for a while and it faded once nobody reacted. Not sure that's a rule though 🙂
