my younger daughter wants maths tuition. not because she's struggling, because her sister goes

elder one is in class 10 and goes for maths tuition three evenings a week. the younger one has decided she needs it too. her marks are fine. her maths teacher says she's fine. i'm a teacher myself and i don't think she needs it. she's asked every day for a week now. i can't tell if this is about maths at all.

What's the harm in one month? Most tuition places let you stop. Either she gets bored and drops it herself, or she picks up something. A week of no has clearly made it more attractive.

Arey, same scene at ours, only it was dance 😊 The chinnadi wanted to go wherever akka was going. Maybe what she wants is the going out part, evening, friends, a bag to carry. Can she do something of her own in the same slot? A class she picks herself?

asked her what she'd like instead. she said 'serious study'. asked which subject. she said 'whichever one akka does'.

agree with the same-slot idea. ours did a library hour at that age, mostly for the walk there and back 🤷

Then it may be time with her sister she is after, or simply not being the one left at home. Does the elder one want her there? I would ask that before asking the tuition teacher anything.

asked the elder one. long silence, then 'can she at least sit in a different row'. so not a no.
