My sister wants to join NCC, in her board year

She's in class 10, and two of her friends joined last year, so she has heard all the stories and wants to sign up. The form mentions parades on some Saturdays and an annual camp, and that's about all the detail it gives. Our parents leave school matters to me during the week, so I'd like to understand what I'm agreeing to before I take it to them. For anyone whose child did NCC at school: how many Saturdays in a term, where were the camps and for how long, and did anyone join in class 10 or is that unusual? I'd rather hear what happened in your case than what the form promises.
