My partner wants an IB or Cambridge school for our son from next year. I've taught in CBSE schools for years

Our son is 4 and we'll be applying for next year. My partner has visited two IB and Cambridge schools near Hebbal and came back convinced. I'm a CBSE teacher, and I'm not. My reasons are partly practical: the fees, the distance, and the fact that what happens in the early years looks fairly similar wherever you go. Partly it's that I know the CBSE system well enough to help him through it, and I wouldn't know the others. My partner's reasons are good too. Less rote work, more projects, and not wanting him in a system I complain about at dinner. For those who chose an international board early, did it hold up through the primary years, or did you move to CBSE or ICSE later? I'd like to hear from people who weren't sold by the brochure.

Our daughter did IGCSE till class 10, then switched to a junior college for the last two years because of the entrance exams. The early years were good for her; she wrote and spoke well and enjoyed school. The switch at 16 was hard for about six months. If you go international, decide early whether you'll stay through class 12 or plan to switch, and look at the fees for the senior grades, not just the entry year.
