My daughter has been giving her lunch to a classmate who doesn't bring any

She told us at dinner, quite casually. A girl in her class comes without a tiffin most days, so for a couple of weeks my daughter has been giving her half, sometimes most, of hers. She comes home starving and eats everything in sight, which is how it came out. I'm proud of her and I don't want her to stop. But she's eight and needs her lunch too. Do I just pack more? Should the class teacher know? I don't want to embarrass the other child or her family.

pack more. two extra chapatis and a fruit, and say nothing at school for now. my granddaughter's class had a child like this last year and the teacher already knew. teachers mostly do

Bada dil hai uska :) Pack extra, yes. But I'd still tell the class teacher quietly, not as a complaint. If the girl is missing lunch most days the school may want to know, and they can handle it without anyone being embarrassed. Your daughter shouldn't be the only one carrying that.
