My 10 year old has asked me to stop putting her photos on my WhatsApp status

She said it quietly at dinner. Not upset, just very clear. A friend's mother had shown one of my status photos to the friend, and they laughed about her hair. I post maybe once a week. Birthdays, a trip. I never thought of it as public. I said yes, of course. But now I'm wondering what else she minds and hasn't told me. Do you ask your kids before posting anything about them at this age?

Our 14 year old asked the same at 11. We agreed I show her the photo first and she gets a veto. She uses it less than I expected. Now she asks me not to post her baby brother 'in that ugly romper' ❤️

at 10 she's asking for something small and reasonable, and asking politely. i'd read that as a good sign about her, not a list of hidden grievances

That's a kinder way to look at it. I asked her yesterday if there was anything else. She thought about it and said only the one of her asleep in the car with her mouth open. Deleted.

My daughter is also 10. She told me same thing about Facebook last year, her school friend saw. I removed all. Now I am putting only flowers and temple photos.

Flowers and temple photos made me smile. I suspect I'll be posting a lot more of those too.
