LKG letter says she should be toilet trained by June. She isn't anywhere close

teal_compass_2155

Her admission letter came this week. Fees, uniform list, book list, and then this line: children are expected to be toilet trained before the academic year begins. She's still in diapers all day. We've tried a potty twice and she treated it as a chair. I have OPD and rounds most days, so I won't be the one at home for most of the trying. Is eight weeks realistic? And do schools actually mean it, or is it one of those lines everyone ignores?

Our daughter's preschool had the same line in its letter. In practice, the first month was a lot of spare clothes in her bag and nobody was sent home. I'd still call and ask how they handle accidents, so you know what the line means for them specifically.

Summer is the easiest time to try. Fewer clothes, and everything dries in an hour on the balcony. We did ours in May with my mother at home. Took about three weeks before it mostly stuck. Nights came much later, but schools only care about the day ❤️
