Our daughter has been running with an evening group for about a year and now talks about competing. We are looking at schools for class 7 for next year, and Eastern Public School is on the list. Does the school have a usable ground? Do children take part in inter-school athletics, and how does sport fit into the week for the middle classes? Current parents especially, but a recent visit counts too.
We drove past it once while looking at schools on that side but didn't go in, so I can't tell you about the ground. One question that helped us with our elder one: ask what sports period looks like in the rains. A few schools we saw just switch to indoor games for four months of the year 😂
My son's school has a decent ground, and school athletics still meant one sports day a year. If she wants to compete, an outside athletics club will matter more than which school she is in. We go to one on weekends and the school never comes into it.
