Is it worth visiting schools during the summer vacation, when nothing is running?

We are thinking about a change of school for our daughter for class 5, mainly because the van ride to her current school takes close to an hour each way. That would be June 2027, so there is time. I have some leave in late May and would rather look at schools now than squeeze visits into term-time weekdays. But I am not sure what I would learn from an empty building. Do schools entertain visits in the vacation, and did anyone find them useful?

Speaking from the school side: the admissions office is usually open in May, the rest of the building is empty. You'll see the classrooms and the paint, not the school. Pillalu lenappudu choosthe, it's like seeing the kalyana mandapam the day after the wedding :) I'd use the leave to call and collect the basics: admission dates for class 5, documents, whether they test. Keep the real visit for a working day in July or August, even if it costs you a half day.

Thank you, that is a useful way to split it. I called three schools this week. Two said class 5 admissions open around October, and one told me to check back after the term starts. I will keep the visits for July.
