Is August of class 12 too early or too late to start CUET preparation?

My daughter is in class 12 commerce, CBSE. She wants a BCom or an economics degree, ideally in Delhi or Bengaluru, and most of those seats now go through CUET. Her school's line is that the boards come first and CUET can wait till after the pre-boards. Her friends are split. Some have already joined weekend CUET batches. Others say the board syllabus covers the domain papers anyway and only the general test needs separate practice. For those whose children wrote it recently: when did they start, and was the general test the part that needed the most time?

Mine's only 10, but my nephew wrote it this year for BCom. Nothing separate till January, then mocks for the general test and English, and the domain papers mostly came out of his board prep. He got into a college he was fine with. One data point 🤷‍♀️

I did my B.Com before CUET existed, so take this lightly 😊 The girls I know who wrote it say the accountancy and economics papers felt like board questions turned into multiple choice. Speed was the hard part, not the content. Maybe one mock paper a month from now, just so she knows the format, and the serious practice in the gap between the boards and the exam?

Reading this as a father who is still six years away from it. What worries me is a weekend batch on top of school and tuition in the board year. When does she rest? If the school is saying boards first, I would probably go with them till the pre-boards and see how she feels then.
